What are parameters?

Parameters are used to control ACES functions and outputs.

Who updates parameters?

Parameters can only be updated by designated ACES staff.

Online Processing

What parameters can I view from the Parameters page in ACES.online?

View the following parameters in ACES.online; 

  • Confinement facilities on the Confinements page.
  • Locations on the Location page for:

    • Regions
    • CSOs
    • Units
    • Counties
    • ZIP Codes
    • Disaster

How do I view parameters in ACES.online?

To view parameters in ACES.online, take the following steps:

  1. From the Welcome Back page in ACES.online, under Other Links click the Parameters link and the Parameters page displays.
  2. On the Parameters page:
  • Under Facilities, click the Confinements link to view confinement facilities.
  • Under Location click:
    • Regions to view a statewide list of each region number and name.
    • CSOs to view a statewide list of CSO number, name and Region.
  • Click any CSO Number link to view additional information about that CSO.
    • Click Units to view a statewide list of each CSO, each Unit Type and Unit Number within that CSO and the Region to which the CSO belongs.
  • Click any Unit Number link to view specific information about that CSO unit.
    • Click Counties to view a list of Washington State counties by County Number and Name.
    • Click Zip Codes to view a statewide list of ZIP Codes, the CSO and Region associated with that ZIP Code.

What parameters can I view from ACES mainframe? 

View the following parameters:

  • Eligibility Parameters from FMEN Option A – Eligibility Parameters.
  • Location Parameters from FMEN Option B – Location Parameters.
  • Other Parameters 1 from FMEN Option C – Other Parameters 1.
  • Other Parameters 2 from FMEN Option D – Other Parameters 2.
  • Messages, Codes and Alert parameters from FMEN Option E – Messages and Codes.

What are Eligibility Parameters?

  • Eligibility parameters are the standards and limits set for each assistance program.
  • ACES uses eligibility parameters to determine eligibility and benefit level.
  • Each of the parameters has an effective date that ensures the correct benefit amount is calculated for a specific period of time.
  • Eligibility parameters have two types of values.
    • Constants are values that do not change based on the number of people in an Assistance Unit (AU).
      • An example of a constant is the resource limit for TANF or Basic Food.
    • Tables are values that vary based on the number of people in an AU.
      • An example would be the FS Max (Thrifty Food Plan (TFP)) which is based on the number of people in a Basic Food AU.

How do I view Eligibility Parameters?

To view Eligibility Parameters take the following steps:

  1. From the WMEN screen, select Option F – Parameters. <TRANSMIT>
  2. From the FMEN screen, select Option A – Eligibility Parameters. <TRANSMIT>
  3. The FAMN screen displays inquiry and update options for the following parameters:
  • FS Constants and FS Tables.
  • CA-MA Constants and CA-MA Tables.
  • MM FS Constants and MM FS Tables.
  • MM CA-MA Constants and MM CA-MA Tables.
  1. From the FAMN screen, select the letter or number for the Constant or Table Inquiry desired. <TRANSMIT>
  2. From the PHIS screen, select the two digit number corresponding to the Benefit Date you want to view. <TRANSMIT>

What are Location Parameters?

Location Parameters contain detailed office information about:

  • Regions.
  • Community Service Offices (CSOs) address and phone numbers.
  • Unit structure within an individual CSO.

How do I view Location Parameters?

To view Location Parameters take the following steps:

  1. From the WMEN screen, select Option F – Parameters. <TRANSMIT>
  2. From the FMEN screen, select B – Location Parameters. <TRANSMIT>

The FBMN screen displays options for the following parameters:

  • Region
  • CSO
  • Unit
  • High Loss ZIP Code
  • County
  • Work Exempt Counties
  • EBT Rollout Inquiry
  1. From the FBMN screen select the letter for the inquiry desired. <TRANSMIT>
  2. Edit 0013 - REQUIRED FIELDS ARE IDENTIFIED BY “?” displays. Enter the [desired value(s)] in the indicated field(s). <TRANSMIT> For example:
  • To view Option E – Unit Inquiry, enter [E] in the Selection field.
  • Enter [the desired CSO number] in the CSO field, [the desired** **Unit Type] in the Unit Type field and [the desired Unit Number] in the Unit Number field. <TRANSMIT>
  • The UNIT screen displays with:
    • The CSO number selected.
    • The Unit Type selected.
    • The Unit Number selected.
    • The Name field displays the name of the Unit Type – for example, Unit Type 08 displays FINANCIAL WORKER in the Namefield.
    • The Supervisor User ID displays for the Unit Number that was selected.

What are Other Parameters 1?

Other Parameters 1 contain information about:

  • Post Authorization Supervisory Review (PASR)
  • Quality Control (QC)
  • Standard of Promptness (SOP)
  • State and Federal Holiday Dates

How do I view Other Parameters 1?

To view Other Parameters 1 take the following steps:

  1. From the WMEN screen, select Option F – Parameters. <TRANSMIT>
  2. From the FMEN screen, select C – Other Parameters 1. <TRANSMIT>

The FCMN screen displays options for these parameters:

  • Holiday Dates
  • Standard of Promptness
  • Scheduling Parameters
  1. From the FCMN screen select the letter for the inquiry desired. <TRANSMIT>
  2. If the PHIT screen displays, select the number for the Eff Date desired. For example:
  • To view Option A – Holiday Dates Inquiry, enter [A] in the Selection field. <TRANSMIT>
  • From the PHIT screen enter [01] in the Selection field to view the Holiday Dates for the most recent year listed. <TRANSMIT>
  • The HOLI screen displays with the Holidays for the most recent year in MM/DD format.

What are Other Parameters 2?

Other Parameters 2 contain information about:

  • Cycle Parameters
  • Routing Parameters
  • Supervisor Review
  • Issuance Parameters

How do I view Other Parameters 2?

To view Other Parameters 2 take the following steps:

  1. From the WMEN screen, select Option F – Parameters. <TRANSMIT>
  2. From the FMEN screen, select Option D – Other Parameters 2. <TRANSMIT>

The FDMN screen displays options for the following parameters:

  • Cycle Parameters
  • Routing Parameters
  • Supervisor Review
  1. From the FDMN screen select the letter for the inquiry desired. <TRANSMIT>
  • If choosing Option A – Cycle Parameters, enter [a cycle date] in the Cycle Date field. <TRANSMIT>
  • If choosing Option C – Routing Parameters, enter [a terminal ID] in the Terminal ID field. <TRANSMIT>
  • If choosing Option E – Supervisor Review, enter [a User ID] in the User ID field. <TRANSMIT>

What are Messages and Codes?

Messages and Codes contain information about:

  • Alert Codes
  • Alert Summary Groups
  • Edit Error Messages
  • System Exception Msgs
  • Unit Alerts

How do I view Messages and Codes Parameters?

To view Messages and Codes Parameters take the following steps:

  1. From the WMEN screen, select Option FParameters<TRANSMIT>
  2. From the FMEN screen, select E – Messages and Codes. <TRANSMIT>

The FEMN screen displays options for the following parameters:

  • Alert Codes
  • Alert Summary Group
  • Online Edit Error Messages
  • Batch Edit Error Messages
  • Online Exception Error Messages
  • Batch Exception Error Messages
  • Unit Alerts
  1. From the FEMN screen select the letter for the inquiry desired and complete the field(s) corresponding with that selection. For example:
  • For Option A - Alert Code Inquiry, enter [the alert number] in the Alert Code field. <TRANSMIT>
  • For Option E - Online Edit Error Messages Inquiry, enter [the error number] in the Error Number field. <TRANSMIT>
