Who can preview eligibility on a case?

Financial workers and some inquiry only staff have security rights to check eligibility on a case. See What is the ACES Security Matrix?

When should I use test eligibility?

Use test eligibility on an active or pending case to test financial and non-financial eligibility factors without committing the data

EXAMPLE: While in interview mode, test eligibility to determine the impact to determine the impact of income changes (increase or decrease) on a case without committing the data.

When should I use trial eligibility?

Use trial eligibility to make financial and non-financial eligibility determinations for a variety of ‘what-if’ situations on an active or pending case.

EXAMPLE: To determine the impact a WorkFirst sanction has on a client's active case, without committing any data.
NOTE: Trial Eligibility Household Increments are not available in ACES 3G. 

When should I use trial budget?

Use trial budget to determine if a case is eligible for a specific program.

How can I preview eligibility on a case?

Use one of the following methods to check eligibility on a case without actually committing any data:

  • Test Eligibility – financial determination on an active or pending case
  • ACES 3G - Eligibility Page, Test Eligibility Link
  • Trial Eligibility – financial and non-financial eligibility determinations on an active or pending case
  • ​ACES 3G - Case ActionsChange of Circumstances Section, Start Trial Eligibility link
  • Trial Budget – determination if a case is eligible for a specific program.
  • ACES 3G - not available at this time.

How do I test eligibility on an active or pending case?

To test eligibility on an active or pending case take the following steps:

  1. From the Case Actions page click on Interview, Processing Applications Months, Start Changes, or Start Trial Eligibility
  2. Update the case, and click Eligibility from the Navigation tree.
  3. From the Eligibility page, click Test Eligibility link 
  4. Click Test Details link to review test results. Exit this page by clicking Eligibility from the Navigation tree.
  5. From the Eligibility page, click End Test Eligibility link to exit test eligibility.

How do I run trial eligibility on an active or pending case?

To run trial eligibility on an active or pending case take the following steps:  

  1. From the Case Actions page, under Change of Circumstances, click Start Trial Eligibility link.
  2. Update the case, click Eligibility from the Navigation tree.
  3. From the Eligibility page, click Test Details link.
  4. Click Test Details link to review test results. Exit this page by clicking Eligibility from the Navigation tree.
  5. From the Eligibility page, click End Test Eligibility link to exit test eligibility or click Close Trial Eligibility button to exit.

To run trial eligibility on an active case take the following steps: 

  1. From the Case Actions page, under Change of Circumstances, click Start Trial Eligibility link.
  2. Update the case, click Eligibility from the Navigation tree. 
  3. From the Eligibility page, click Details link and review results. 
  4. Click Confirm Benefits for each Assistance Unit.
  5. When finished click Close Trial Eligibility button to exit. 
NOTE: If an active AU contains a pending person, the non-financial results for that person displays on the Eligibility page. For example, if a TANF AU has a pending 16 year old child and that child has failed school requirements, the Eligibility page displays the Reason Code 205 Failed Age/School Attendance and the child’s status remains Applicant (PN).
NOTE: The Trial Eligibility function for Trial Eligibility Household Increments are not available in ACES 3G.

How do I run trial budget?

To run trial budget take the following steps:

  1. From AMEN, select Option E – Trial Budget
  2. On the TBUD screen, enter the data you wish to run trial budget on. See <F2> and <F1> Help.
NOTE: If earned income is entered for program type AF, enter [N, N] in the 30 & 1/3 fields. System allows the 50% earned income disregard, regardless of entry.
  1. <TRANSMIT> to see the results on the TBCA screen.
  • Press <F18> - TBUD to return to the TBUD screen to change data.
  1. Press <F3> or <TRANSMIT> to return to AMEN.
