An AU should be re-opened in the following situations:
NOTE: When a new BF or Cash AU is screened or a closed AU is re-opened, ACES checks if the HOH has an AU that closed within the last 31 days with one of the following reason codes:
If an AU meets this criteria, edit message: [AU number] recently closed for [Reason 141, 142, or 542]. If processing a late MCR, cancel screening and reinstate the AU. displays on the Finalize page during screening.
To re-open an AU previously closed or denied, take these steps:
On the Welcome Back page, in the Quick Navigation section, update the following fields:
Select a Type of ID drop down box - Select Client.
Enter an ID field - Enter the [Client ID number].
Select a Page drop down box - Select Summary.
Click the Go Button and the Summary – Client page appears.
Click the AU ID for the AU that is being re-opened and the Summary – Assistance Unit page appears.
Select Re-Open from the Case Maintenance dropdown menu and the Applicant page for Head of Household (HOH) displays in a new window.
Click Next and the Finalize page appears. Theicon indicates the Program Details must be reviewed before the selected AU can be re-opened.
Click the program name for the AU that is being re-opened and the Program Details page appears.
Check/uncheck the boxes to include the correct household members.
Click Next and the Finalize page appears again.
Check the box for the AU that is being re-opened.
Enter the Application Date as [MM/DD/YYYY].
When reopening a denied food application after the 30th day:
If the application was denied incorrectly, enter the approval date the same as the date of application.
