$12 million in grant funding is available for tribal communities to plan, study and build best-fit climate solutions
The Washington State Department of Commerce is now accepting applications for tribal climate resilience grant funding now through 11:59 p.m. Pacific on June 7, 2024. Federally recognized tribes within Washington and federally recognized tribes with lands in Washington may apply. Approximately $12 million is available for this grant program, with a maximum award of approximately $2 million per project. Commerce encourages and invites participation at our online grant application workshop (link launches meeting) to learn more about this opportunity and how to apply. Funding Opportunity-Community Reinvestment Plan Homeownership Capital Accelerator
- In 2022, the Legislature created the Community Reinvestment Account, setting aside funding to address racial, economic, and social disparities in communities disproportionately harmed by the historic design and enforcement of state and federal criminal laws and penalties for drug possession (the “war on drugs”). Federally recognized tribal nations in Washington state are automatically eligible to apply, and do not need to register as or partner with a CRP-verified “by-and-for” organization. View/Download RFP
Capital Funding Opportunity-Application open now for performing arts, art museum, and cultural organizations
- Commerce is now accepting applications for the 2025-27 Building for the Arts grant program. These competitive grants can fund 33% of eligible capital costs, up to $2 million, for acquisition, construction, and/or major renovation of capital facilities. This grant opportunity is available to all tribes and nonprofit organizations with emphasis on performing arts projects, art museum projects, and cultural organization projects.

The Final Rule on the Tribal Child Support Enforcement program was published in the Federal Register (69 FR 16638 (PDF)) on March 30, 2004. The Rule implements section 455(f) of the Social Security Act and sets forth the required elements and related provisions for tribal child support programs (45 CFR part 309).
This guidance is for tribes and tribal organizations interested in operating a child support program.
In 2023, OCSS organized a workgroup of tribal child support directors to review proposed updates to IM-05-06, A Guide to the Tribal IV-D Start-Up Application Process. The instructions are now more concise and easier to follow. The guidance includes tools that help tribes and tribal organizations apply for funding.

FY 2023 Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly Program - The Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly program provides Capital Advance funding for the development of supportive rental housing for Very-Low-Income persons aged 62 years or older and project rental subsidies in the form of a Project Rental Assistance Contract (PRAC) to maintain ongoing affordability. This program provides elderly persons with the opportunity to live independently, but with important voluntary support services such as nutritional, transportation, continuing education, and/or health-related services.

New Funding Available for the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Programs Initiative (ADPI)

ACL has released the 2024 funding opportunity for the Alzheimer's Disease Programs Initiative - Grants to States and Communities program. Cooperative agreement grants awarded under this opportunity will support and promote the development and expansion of dementia-capable home and community-based service systems in states, communities, and tribes. The dementia-capable systems resulting from program activities are expected to provide quality, strengths-based, person-centered services and supports that help people living with dementia and their caregivers remain independent and safe in their communities. There are two application options contained in the single Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO): Grants to States (Option A) and Grants to Communities (Option B). No entity is eligible to apply for both state and community options.
Up to $9.5 million available to support electrification and appliance rebates for Tribal households and small businesses
The Washington State Department of Commerce opened a formula funding request for the State Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) Program in February, with $12 million in funding from the Climate Commitment Act for Tribal governments and Tribal supporting entities. Approximately $9.5 million of that funding is still available to provide rebates and incentives to Tribal households and small businesses to install high-efficiency electric equipment and appliances. This program provides grants to third-parties to administer rebate and incentive programs for high-efficiency electric equipment and appliances, for low- and moderate-income households and small businesses including Tribal governments and entities, Non-profits and community based organizations that serve Tribal members, and Tribal partnerships.
The funding request form will remain open until June 30, 2024, or until the current funding of $9.5 million is allocated.
