Personal Care in a Residential Setting

The following settings are licensed by DSHS. They provide support with daily care needs. Specialty training is required for all providers and staff who support people with developmental disabilities. These facilities must follow federal rules to ensure your rights. Your case manager can help you find the setting that works best for you.  

Adult Family Homes (24/7 availability of supports)

Adult Family Homes offer support with personal care needs included in your service plan. Each home supports two to eight adults. Pay room and board based on your income. Keep your monthly allowance to pay for personal items. Each home is licensed by DSHS and owned by the provider.

Assisted Living/Adult Residential Care/Enhanced Adult Residential Care (24/7 availability of supports)

Assisted Living Facilities offer three service packages that provide support with personal care, housekeeping, meals, snacks, laundry and activities.  Each facility can have seven or more adults.  Pay room and board based on your income. Keep your monthly allowance to pay for personal items.
