FINAL AMENDMENTS RELATED TO CHAPTER 388-78A WAC
Dear Boarding Home Administrator:
In January 2012, Residential Care Services (RCS) informed you about possible changes to boarding home licensing rules. The department recently filed the final Rule-Making Order (CR-103P) for amendments to Chapter 388-78A Washington Administrative Code (WAC), Boarding Home Licensing Rules, with the Office of the Code Reviser. The rule becomes effective on April 22, 2012 and is published in the Washington State Register as WSR 12-08-004.
The purpose of amending these rules is to comply with changes to state law made by the 2011 Legislature in Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill 5708 to allow boarding homes to provide some services to nonresident individuals.
The CR-103P, including new and amended WAC language, is available electronically on the ADSA website at: http://www.adsa.dshs.wa.gov/professional/bh.htm under the heading “Boarding Home Rule Filings”.
After the effective date, when the rule language is “codified” and merged into the existing WAC chapter, you will be able to read and print the final rules by visiting http://apps.leg.wa.gov/wac/default.aspx?cite=388-78A
If you have any questions, please contact your RCS Field Manager. Thank you for your continued commitment to the care of long-term care residents in our State.
Sincerely,
Joyce Pashley Stockwell, Director
Residential Care Services
