Contact Information: This interactive training course will focus on the significant role that language plays when interacting with and discussing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of Person-Centered Thinking and Language, and how both our verbal and nonverbal communication shape our perceptions of individuals with IDD and their families and supports. Practical strategies for using respectful and empowering language that supports the dignity, empowerment, and autonomy of individuals with IDD will be shared.

This particular offering of Power of Words is for community providers only and not for DDCS employees. There will be future offerings soon that DDCS employees will be more than welcome to participate in.
