About OJCR
The Office of Justice and Civil Rights (OJCR) has one of the most important roles within the Department of Social Health Services (DSHS). OJCR was created to ensure:
- Equitable investigations of Equal Employment Opportunity and Civil Rights complaints from DSHS employees and clients
- DSHS actively encourages and supports a workplace that is free from harassment and discrimination
- Fair and impartial reviews of administrative hearing decisions
- DSHS sustains a cultural environment where all managers and employees view equal employment opportunity as an integral part of the agency’s strategic mission
- Accountability and the prevention of discrimination through educational programs that promote compliance with regulations and civil rights laws
- Development and adoption of rules and policies that are necessary, fair, understandable, equitable, and consistent
DSHS is committed to providing an environment that is free from all forms of discrimination and harassment, including sexual harassment, retaliation, and other inappropriate behaviors.
