Support Service Provider (SSP)

A Support Service Provider (SSP) is a trained professional who guides a person that is deaf-blind, providing visual and environmental information. SSPs empower Deaf-Blind people to live independently, enabling them to do their own mail, banking, shopping and other essential errands. SSPs, unlike ASL interpreters, is not considered to be a requirement under the Americans With Disabilities Act. ODHH contracts with the Deaf-Blind Service Center (DBSC) to provide support service providers throughout Puget Sound and Washington state where available. A deaf blind person needing an SSP can contact the SSP coordinator at ssp@seattledbsc.org or Videophone at 206-452-0062. For more information about SSP services, please click the following link: https://seattledbsc.org/ssp-program/.
