About Assisted Living Facilities

These facilities in a community setting are licensed to care for seven or more residents. The assisted living facility (ALF) provides room and board and help with activities of daily living (ADL). Some ALFs provide limited nursing services; others may specialize in serving people with mental health problems, developmental disabilities, or dementia (Alzheimer's disease). RCW 18-20-020(2).

Some Assisted Living Facilities provide Assisted Living through a contract with the Department of Social and Health Services. Specific services are provided in a contracted assisted living facility.
