Safe Environments in LTC Setting Workgroup

Background/Charge

During the 2020 Legislative Session, the Legislature passed Engrossed Second Substitute Senate Bill 6205 (E2SSB 6205) which directs the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) to convene a stakeholder workgroup to address recommendations related to reducing harassment, abuse, and discrimination in home care and long-term care settings.

The workgroup must consider the 19 specific topics outlined in the act in developing their recommendations and report its training recommendations to the Legislature by December 1, 2021. The report must also address issues regarding the continuation of collecting and reviewing data, the future role of the workgroup, and how the workgroup measures the efficacy of its recommendations.
