Notice of Funding for DSHS ORIA Career Laddering for Educated and/or Vocationally Experienced Refugees (CLEVER)

The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services’ (DSHS) Office of Refugee and Immigrant Assistance (ORIA) is seeking qualified organizations to submit competitive proposals to assist eligible refugees and immigrants to re-enter their previous career field through professional case management, educational case management or other services as proposed in the application. ORIA is seeking qualified applicants that have demonstrated success in the proposed services and in employment services as well as applicants that have the capacity to provide services that are culturally and linguistically appropriate.

The purpose of this Request for Applications (RFA) is to solicit applications for high quality, innovative Career Re-Entry Services to eligible refugees and humanitarian immigrants (for detailed eligibility information, please refer to the RFA documents). The total funding anticipated for this statewide program during State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2025 will be limited to a total of $1,000,000. Award amounts will be limited to $175,000 per provider.

Washington's Unaccompanied Refugee Minor Program Nationally Recognized 

The University of Minnesota’s National Resource Center for Refugees, Immigrants, and Migrants recently featured Washington's Unaccompanied Refugee Minor Program as a ‘Promising Practice’ for their work in welcoming new Afghan arrivals. The URM programs seek to place newcomer youth with culturally matched foster family homes while providing supportive services to aid in adjustment and readiness for independent living.  Please read more about it on their website.  Congratulations to LCSNW for this national recognition.
