BCCU has implemented a rush request process for background checks. If you need to expedite a background check for processing it must meet at least one of the below criteria:
-
Staffing crisis (new hires that are detrimental to the operation of the agency); OR
-
The background check is regarding a renewal of a background check AND there is imminent threat of the facility temporarily removing the employee from their duty station due to not having an updated background check result.
In order to avoid unnecessary expedited requests and additional delays, please refrain from sending any background checks that do not meet the above criteria. To request expedited background check processing, please contact BCCU by sending an email to bccuinquiry@dshs.wa.gov with the subject “Priority Request” with the following information:
-
Name of the Applicant (last, first)
-
Inquiry ID (number located in BCS)
-
Reason for the priority request
-
Entity contact information
BCCU will review and process requests as quickly as possible. However, please allow up to two (2) business days for handling/processing. BCCU thanks you for your patience and understanding with turnaround times.
Steps for Success:
- Give clear instructions on where to go to complete the background check authorization form and where to send the confirmation code and their date of birth once the form is completed.
- Provide time frames and next steps in the hiring process once the background check is complete.
- Advise if fingerprints are needed. Make the continue decision in BCS and provide the applicant the Appointment Form Packet once the "Interim FP Check" is finished.
Important Reminders:
- Confirmation codes should not be sent to BCCU.
- Completing the online Background Check Authorization Form does not submit the background check to BCCU for processing.
- Applicants must save the confirmation code as BCCU cannot retrieve the code.
- Confirmation codes expire after 90 days.
